Lessons to My Younger Self: Principles for Growth and Success
Hi Friends,
Here is a list of things I would tell my younger self—and many are things I’m still working on today. Just remember, it’s a process.
Dream big. Everything is possible.
Find your purpose. Try lots of things.
Outwork everyone.
Your competition is staring back at you in the mirror.
Never give up.
Eat more whole foods. Nutrition is life.
Find a mentor. Study their habits, routines, and rituals.
Stay uncomfortable. Comfort is dying on your feet.
Prepare every day. Develop a morning routine.
Take action daily.
Reflect. Study past performances.
Focus on what you can control. Let go of everything else.
Be quick to listen and slow to speak.
Be a problem solver.
Rest is a success principle. Get your sleep.
Be a leader. The crowd is usually wrong.
Raise your standards.
Control your emotions. They run your life.
Practice gratitude daily.
Grow your mind. Read books and listen to podcasts.
Study Proverbs daily. It’s the greatest success book ever written.
Be relentless in your craft.
Control your state. It’s a choice. Live in a beautiful state.
Create awareness. Your thoughts, emotions, words, associations, and actions define you.
Move every day.
Love more.
Forgive. Your grudges are killing you.
Understand the seasons of life. This too shall pass.
You reap what you sow.
Be a giver.
Be the first to arrive and the last to leave.
Failure is your greatest teacher.
Run toward fear. It’s telling you what you must do.
Change the channel. If you don’t like your thoughts, shift your mindset.
Fall in love with the process.
No one ever said it was going to be easy. Hard is fun.
Repetition is the process of mastery.
Play the game of math. Do it more than everyone else.
When in doubt, doubt your doubts.
Pray often and everywhere.
Everything is possible with God.
Every day is an opportunity to get better.
Pain is necessary for growth.
When all else fails, remember that God doesn’t—and He made you.
When you make a lot of mistakes, you come up with a long list of principles. I’m adding to this list daily because I’m constantly pushing to the next failure. Hope this list helps you.
Let’s Climb!!!
